Our Approach

Acquiring industrial businesses for the long term.

TouchPoint is not a private equity firm. We acquire engineering and manufacturing businesses for the long term — no fund cycle, no pre-set exit, no expectation that the business will ever be sold again. Every company we have acquired since 2012 still operates today under its original name, run by the management team that built it.

The TouchPoint Operating Model

Buy.Invest.Grow.

Three words, in this order, every time. Most of the businesses we own have been around for fifty, eighty, a hundred years. The model below is how we plan to be with them for the next fifty, eighty, hundred.

IBuy

We acquire privately-held engineering and manufacturing companies — typically from founders or families who want the business to outlast the transaction. Direct conversations, fair multiples, no auctions.

We do not run a submission process. When we approach a company, it is because we have studied the business and the platform fit.

IIInvest

Capital is one piece. We also bring M&A support, shared services, channel relationships, and a global engineering network built across more than a century in industrial manufacturing. The existing leadership team keeps running the company.

TouchPoint acts as a governing board — strategic and financial oversight, plus approvals on key capital and human-resource investments.

IIIGrow

Every company TouchPoint has acquired since 2012 still operates today under its original name and management team. We grow alongside that team — no fund cycle, no pre-set exit, and no expectation that the business will ever be sold again.

The point of long ownership is the second decade. We design every relationship around what gets built after the deal closes, not at the closing dinner.

Every company TouchPoint has acquired since 2012 still operates today under its original name and management team. That is not a hold strategy. It is the strategy.

The companies we admire

What we look for in a business.

These are the attributes our corporate development team looks for. We do not run a submission process — when we reach out, it is because we have already seen these qualities in the business.

  • 01

    Niche growth-oriented businesses

TouchPoint targets companies with value-added products or services, with at least 2X GDP growth potential. Such companies will be in the early growth phase of the business, with proven revenue and profits, and headquartered in the United States or Western Europe.

  • 02

Proven performance and strong management team

TouchPoint chooses companies with at least three consecutive years of healthy performance, and with a strong management team who is fluent in the English language and willing to remain with the company for at least three years after the acquisition takes place.

  • 03

Cross-company linkages to enable tangible synergies

TouchPoint selects companies whose resources and core competencies can be leveraged across other investments or can significantly benefit from TouchPoint's knowledge base.

  • 04

    Favorable deal conditions

TouchPoint seeks privately held companies at fair market multiples. We look to both incorporate acquisitions into our existing platforms as well as to create new platforms where companies have the potential to operate as an independent business.

Corporate development

If our paths should cross.

If you run an engineering or manufacturing business you believe could sit well on one of our platforms — or you advise one — corporate development is reachable through the contact page. We respond to serious outreach from principals and their advisors.
